Jhakrana Goat

Jakhrana goat is a dairy goat breed mainly reared for milk production. It is also good for meat production, and their hides are popular with the leather industry.
They in their pure form are mainly concentrated in the area around Jhakrana village of Behror, Alwar, Rajasthan. It is also found in Rewari, Haryana.
They are medium to large sized animals with a short body.
Their body color is black with white spots on the ears and muzzle. Their faces are straight with raised forehead.
They have short and shiny hairs on their body. Their horns are short, stubby and are directed upwards and backwards. They have leafy and drooping ears and their ears are of medium length.
Their udders are large in size and well developed with long conical teats. The average body height of an adult male goat is 84 cm and that of a female goat is 77 cm.
The average weight of a male goat is about 55 kg while a female goat weighs about 45 kg.
